The "Green Giant" of Fish Meds
If you're in Europe, eSHa 2000 is likely the first medication you ever bought. It's been the industry standard for decades because it works on over 18 different disease organisms. From the cottony fuzz of fungus to the melting fins of rot, eSHa 2000 is the ultimate "emergency room" treatment.
Why eSHa 2000 is unique
Unlike many medications that target a single niche, eSHa 2000 is remarkably broad-spectrum. It uses a blend of active ingredients, including chelated copper, that block the metabolism of fungi and bacteria without being as harsh on the fish as older "un-chelated" copper treatments.
Expert Tip: eSHa 2000 is famous for being "Filter Safe." It won't crash your nitrogen cycle, meaning you can treat the whole tank without fearing a sudden ammonia spike.
The 3-Day Protocol
One of the most common mistakes with eSHa is only doing a single dose. To be effective, you must follow the standard course:
- Day 1: A large "loading dose" to get the medication concentration up immediately.
- Day 2: A smaller maintenance dose.
- Day 3: A final maintenance dose to ensure the infection is completely stamped out.
Our calculator above works out the exact number of drops for each of these three days so you don't have to do the math in your head while stressed!
Safety & Compatibility
Is eSHa 2000 safe for shrimp? In my experience, yes, at standard dosages. However, because it contains copper, you should always monitor sensitive invertebrates. If you're particularly worried, check out our guide on eSHa 2000 and Shrimp Safety.
