How calculations work

Calculation inputs stay in this page’s URL so Back and Edit can retain them. Saving tanks or a treatment plan on your device is separate and optional.

Clear amounts. Visible assumptions.

Your calculation, explained

Choose a product and enter the water you’re actually dosing.

  1. Check the exact product and formulation.
  2. Use measured water, or make an explicit estimate.
  3. Review the amount, source and any schedule.

What does the Clarity amount do?

The reference is 5 mL per 80 L. Clarity aggregates suspended particles so mechanical filtration can capture them; adequate filter floss or equivalent fine media is part of the process.

Worked examples

These illustrations use 100 L of measured water, without a decor deduction. Choose the matching stage or formulation above for your own water volume. They do not select a treatment or establish livestock suitability.

Example only. Your calculation above uses your own inputs. Small amounts and powder fractions still need equipment that can measure them reliably.

Before you measure

Water can look cloudier initially. Clean the mechanical media after clearing and check filtration if clouding persists. Do not treat repeated additions as a substitute for identifying a water-quality problem.

Product-specific checks from the calculation record
  • Mechanical filtration such as filter floss is necessary. Water may initially look cloudier; clean the mechanical media after clearing.
  • The manufacturer permits repeat use after 24 hours if needed, but persistent clouding warrants checking the filtration.

Can I repeat immediately if it still looks cloudy?

Seachem describes repeat use after 24 hours as needed, and warns that persistent clouding may mean inadequate mechanical filtration.
