Stability’s calculator separates the initial and follow-up amounts. TurboStart 700’s calculator uses the webpage’s standard freshwater reference. Neither selects a higher-dose exception.

Storage is part of the comparison

Seachem describes Stability’s bacteria as dormant spores and gives a six-year shelf life from manufacture. That does not establish that a tank is immune to a filter interruption.

Fritz specifies refrigerated storage and temperature-controlled shipping. Check the expiry and handling history with the supplier. An unrefrigerated display or a smell alone cannot tell this guide whether a particular bottle is viable.

A dosing period is not a cycling deadline

Seachem’s FAQ says tanks cycle differently and gives a general four-to-six-week timeframe, rather than guaranteeing completion after the dosing period. Fritz advertises cycling in five days or less. These statements are manufacturer claims under their respective conditions, not comparative test results or a promise for your aquarium.

Write down your ammonia and nitrite readings, test timing, water conditions and changes in loading. A useful record shows a pattern; a single favourable reading is not a universal stocking clearance. Do not add an expensive or full livestock load solely because this comparison mentions a fast-cycling claim.

Choose by the practical constraints

• Can the supplier establish appropriate storage and a usable expiry date?
• Can you identify the relevant startup or maintenance directions without mixing them?
• Can your equipment measure the scaled amount accurately?
• Do you have a plan for monitoring the system rather than relying on a predicted completion day?

There is no evidence presented here that one brand always prevents crashes, causes less algae or is universally safer for shrimp.
