eSHa 2000 for cichlids: volume, records and treatment limits

This guide helps you prepare a calculation for a rock-filled display or a separate treatment vessel. It does not prescribe a medicine for cichlids or create a special species dose. Damaged fins, redness or a pale patch do not let this website distinguish injury from an infection.

Start with the aquarium you will actually treat
Write down which aquarium receives the product. “Cichlid” covers many fish and setups; the name alone does not select a temperature, a medicine or an extra amount.
Write down the exact bottle, all products already added, the water-test results and the reason treatment is being considered. If the cause is uncertain or the fish is deteriorating, seek appropriate fish-health advice.
A water-volume example
A 240 L labelled aquarium with an estimated 20% displacement gives 192 L. That is an explicit assumption, not a measurement. A separate 50 L vessel needs its own calculation.
This is a worked input example, not a clinical case or evidence of treatment success. Check litres versus US or UK gallons before using the result.

- Measure the quantity with suitable equipment; do not guess an unmeasurably small fraction.
- Record what was actually added and when.
- Check the manufacturer instructions before changing water, combining products or repeating a course.
What this guide does not decide
There is no automatic half-dose, double-dose, heat treatment, salt addition or recovery deadline based on the species name. The linked manufacturer instructions take priority over a general species shortcut. If your bottle differs from the calculator, resolve that difference before dosing.
