Before you measure

Hikari requires at least a one-third water change before each addition, continued filtration, removal of carbon and careful conditioner compatibility. Follow the complete treatment instructions, including redose intervals and endpoint.
Product-specific checks from the calculation record
- Use a quarantine/treatment system. Remove carbon and change at least one third of the water before each addition; keep ordinary filtration running.
- Do not combine with other medications or sulfinate/sulfoxylate conditioners. Invertebrates may be affected, and silicone or decor may stain.
- Repeat timing and duration depend on the label and observed course. This calculator gives one addition; it does not decide that treatment can stop when spots disappear.
Can I choose the pond rate because my aquarium is large?
No. The choice identifies formulation, not container size. A large aquarium does not turn an aquarium-strength bottle into pond solution.
